Workhorse Down Jacket Specs & Comparison Chart
At Range we talk a lot about our products being high-quality at a fair price. However, that is assuming you trust us. So let’s assume you don’t. What makes our jackets high-quality and how do you know you are getting a fair price?
We are going to breakdown the technical aspects of our Workhorse down jacket and then compare them to top brands so that you can see exactly what we are offering you. Let’s get started.
Fabric:
The shell of the Workhorse is 100% polyester double ripstop bonded with a PTFE lamination. The PTFE is a weblike membrane that allows the fabric to be waterproof and breathable, small enough to keep rain out but large enough to allow water vapor molecules to pass through. Simply put, it keeps the rain out and lets the sweat out, keeping you dry and comfortable.
For added rain protection the exterior fabric is treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. This repels water from the exterior of the jacket. If the DWR finish wears off (by dirt, scratches, & excessive washing) water tends to soak into the fabric making the jacket less breathable.
The Workhorse has a waterproof rating of 5000mm (moderate to heavy rain). This means that the fabric can withstand 5000mm of water in a 24hr period before it soaks through the fabric. If/when that happens we have thoughtfully chosen a fill that provides warmth even when wet.
Fill:
The fill of the Workhorse is Primaloft Gold Down Blend, which is the ultimate hybrid of 70% water-repellent pure white goose down (humanely sourced) and 30% ultra-fine synthetic fibers. It offers high-performance warmth equivalent to 750 fill goose down within your gear with environmentally safe fluorocarbon free water-resistant technology that maintains 95% of it’s warmth in wet conditions. This is high-quality you can feel.
So how does the Workhorse hold up to the competition?
Overall:
We’ve designed a high-quality jacket that provides you with excellent warmth/breathability and rain protection so you can explore comfortably.
