Caspian Rain Jacket Specs & Comparison Chart

Our overall goal at Range is to serve those who love the outdoors. While that’s a nice and lovely brand statement, you may be asking yourself, “What does that tangibly look like?” One of the ways in which we choose to serve is by making gear/apparel that is top quality while being brought to you at a fair and reasonable price.
As you might have seen with the Workhorse jacket, we are going to break down the technical aspects of our Caspian wind/rain jacket and then compare it to top brands so that you can see exactly what level of quality we are offering you. Let’s get started.
Fabric:
The Caspian is a 2-layer jacket, which means that it bonds together an outer layer (100% nylon fabric) and an inner protective layer (tricot). Nylon offers a higher durability and water resistance than other fabric options and tricot is a much softer fabric that breathes better than nylon and polyester.
To ensure water doesn’t get through, the seams of the jacket are taped with a waterproof tape. Also, the exterior fabric is treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) finish. This repels water from the exterior of the jacket and keeps the jacket breathable.
The Caspian has a waterproof rating of 10,000mm (heavy rain). This means that the fabric can withstand 10,000mm of water in a 24hr period before it soaks through the fabric.
So how does the Caspian hold up to the competition?
Overall:
Not all rain jackets can be 100% comparable to each other with all of the different types of fabric technologies. However, considering all of the combined qualities of the Caspian (waterproofness, breathability, durability, comfort, and affordability), what more could you ask for?
